Online home study with a practical attendance lesson in Cookstown, Northern Ireland at Scruffy to Fluffy – Grooming Studio & School.


Course Information

This blended learning course combines flexible online study with in-person practical training.
 

You will receive comprehensive online course notes prior to attending. The programme includes:

  • Online theory lessons in Pet First Aid

  • Approximately 3.5-hour practical attendance session (First Aid & CPR)

  • 1-hour post-attendance video revision lesson

  • Practical assessment guidance
     

You have up to 12 months from registration to complete your coursework and assessment portfolio.
 

Qualification:
Successful completion results in an Ofqual-regulated qualification in Pet First Aid — an essential certification for all pet care professionals.

  • Access to online lessons and your assessment portfolio will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.
     

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum age: 16 years+
     

Qualification

  • OCNNI Level 3 Award in Pet First Aid & CPR (CPCR)

  • Nationally recognised and listed on the Ofqual Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF)
     

Course Content

This intensive course prepares you to confidently handle emergency first aid situations involving pets. You will learn to:

  • Conduct vital health checks

  • Perform CPR (CPCR)

  • Respond to choking or drowning incidents

  • Apply bandaging techniques

  • Manage wounds, bleeding, trauma, and shock
     

Topics covered include:

  • Communication and recognising signs of pain

  • Clinical examination

  • Gastric torsion and pyometra

  • Diarrhoea and kennel cough

  • Parasites

  • Ear and eye problems

  • Toxins and poisoning

  • Seizures

  • First aid kit essentials

  • And much more
     

The course includes a mix of theory, instructional videos, and interactive lessons. It is suitable for pet owners, professional groomers, pet care providers, and veterinary industry professionals. The online element is accessible worldwide.
 

Assessment

  • No formal written exams

  • Portfolio of evidence includes:

    • Short-answer written questions

    • Video or photographic evidence demonstrating practical first aid skills
       

Upon successful completion, learners achieve the OCNNI Level 3 Award in Pet First Aid & CPR.
