Commercial Pet Groomer Certificate Course

This programme is designed for beginners who want to learn the foundations of commercial pet dog grooming.

 

You will be trained in essential clipping and styling techniques used for popular pet breeds, preparing you to:

• Groom your own dog

• Work in a professional salon

• Provide grooming services for everyday pet trims

 

Please Note

• This course covers basic clipping and styling for popular breeds.

• It does not include hand stripping, advanced hand scissoring, pet first aid, or business management.

• These units are included in the Diploma Course.

 

This certificate can be used as a stepping stone towards the Diploma.

 

To upgrade, students must:

• Complete an additional 8 lessons

• Pay an additional £2,250

 

Please note: It is more cost-effective to enrol directly onto the Diploma rather than completing two separate qualifications.

 

What You Will Learn

• 12 practical, hands-on grooming lessons

• Grooming a range of dogs and coat types from start to finish

• Popular breed trims (head, body, feet, ears, and tail styling)

• Adapting trims to suit different coat types and breed standards

• Tool use and maintenance

• Safe handling and health & safety procedures

• Introduction to salon management

 

You will train on our carefully selected training dogs, with a maximum of 5 students in the salon at any one time, ensuring plenty of individual attention.

 

This course provides everything an aspiring groomer needs to begin a career or start a business while gaining a recognised qualification.

Ofqual Regulated OCNNI Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Dog Grooming

 

Please note:
The Diploma is considered the industry-standard qualification for a fully qualified groomer. The Certificate is a foundation-level qualification.

 

Course Structure

• 12 hands-on practical attendance lessons

• 50 hours online home study

 

Courses run all year round and are tailored to suit your availability.

 

You may attend 1–5 days per week, with some weekend (Saturday/Sunday) options available.

 

Class Times

Each lesson lasts approximately 4 hours.

 

During each session, you will groom one dog from start to finish, completing all associated training elements within that lesson.

 

There is also an option to groom two dogs in one day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon).

 

Weekdays

• 9:00am – approx. 1:00pm

• 1:00pm – approx. 5:00pm

Saturdays & Sundays

• 9:00am – approx. 12:00pm

 

Flexible Learning

Courses run all year round, allowing you to start at a time that suits you.

 

Attendance is flexible — choose 1–5 days per week, with some weekend options available.
